Rubber farmers eye better income

FARMERS in North Cotabato are eyeing to elevate their rubber production to the next level to respond to challenges posed by climate change, which has affected most of their cash crops.

“Rubber has the most potential in terms of elevating the farmers’ income but because of the low buying price of cup lumps, we proposed to scale up our production to processing and marketing,” said Paquito Laquihon, a rubber farmer and resident of Barangay New Panay.

REAFFIRMING the European Union’s (EU) commitment to promote and expand domestic and international markets for Mindanao products, EU Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Jessen will grace the launch of the Mindanao Collective Trademark (MCT), a system designed to enhance the competitiveness of products originating from Mindanao.

The MCT launch, slated June 21 at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Davao City, will officially unveil the MCT logo that will become the distinct mark of quality products coming from Mindanao.
