Int’l award-giving body cites Davao-based IT expert

PROVING once again that Dabawenyo talents are world-class, Davao-based information technology expert Xavier Eric B. Manalastas, chief operating officer (COO) of Next BPO Solutions, has been cited by a prestigious international award-giving body.

Manalastas is set to receive an award from Golden Globe Tigers Award (GGTA) for Excellence and Leadership in Outsourcing in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia next month.

The awarding ceremony is slated on April 11 at Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Center Hotel and Residences.

GGTA is multi-functional, multi-discipline industry across segments and industry focused.

According to its website, GGTA aims to recognize “tigers” in marketing, branding CSR & social innovation, education and academic across leadership levels in individual and organization.

“Awardees are well researched and thoroughly selected, winners of this award surely embodies the principles of believing that excellence is infinite and perfection has no limit and targets are milestones not an end of the journey,” GGTA said adding that the award is the highest recognition individuals and organizations can aim to achieve.

For the “Golden Globe Tigers Award for Excellence & Leadership in Outsourcing,” it will recognize the most eminent Professionals for their superlative achievements in their respective fields.

Manalastas said that he is proud and very much honored to receive the prestigious award and as well as represent the country, and his city for the ICT industry.

Acknowledging that the award is intensely researched, Manalastas said that “the research cell consists of Post Graduates in History & Management with over 5 years research experience posts their studies. It is the iconic job of the research cell to produce a shortlist of individuals who are doing extraordinary work and track the record of their achievements. The shortlist is then reviewed by a Jury comprising of senior professionals from across the globe.”

The jurors of the award-winning body is composed of Harish Mehta, Chairman & MD of Onward Technologies Ltd.; Emeritus Chairman – World HRD Congress & Founder Member – NASSCOM, Jonathan Peters, Global Chairman, Stars of the Industry Group, Prof. Indira Parikh, Former Dean IIM Ahmedabad & President, Foundation for Liberal and Management Edu.

Meanwhile, the Next BPO Solutions is a customized outsourcing specialist based in the Davao City.

Manalastas, said in an earlier report that two more multinational companies have ventured in the city this year as part of their expansion.

“Two of the key developments we have for the industry lately are the signing of the largest web development company in New Zealand, the Zealed Pty. Ltd and Hewlett Packard (HP) Enterprise, an American multinational information technology enterprise company,” he said.

He said these companies have signed an agreement of Build Operate-Transfer (BOT) with Next BPO Solutions. The Davao-based Next BPO Solutions will build and house the talent pool tapped to work on the multinational companies.
For the Zealed, the digital creative company decided to shift a major portion of their workforce to the Philippines, initial choice are the cities of Davao and Baguio.

At present, Next BPO Solutions and its partner have employed 25 people working as are developers, online marketers, providing the services for Zealed’s clients in New Zealand and Australia.

For HP Enterprise agreement, Next BPO Solutions is working on building a team of some 200 people by the end of the year.

“They (HP-Enterprise) are coming in Davao. They have signed up with us last month, we are starting to train them right now. We are looking to hire at least 200 people by the end of the year that will provide different level of supports for SAP, the leading enterprise resource planning software used by big companies,” Manalastas said.
